The Vanua Valesasa Transport Company Limited (VVTCL) has only one franchise route to service now, following the expiry of its franchise contract to the Yasayasa Moala last year.
VVTCL company managing director, Ilaitia Caginavanua, said the only franchise run they were currently servicing is to Babacevu, Kadavu, which is twice a month.
Mr Caginavanua told Sun Shipping, they had found that their franchise trip to Babaceva, Kadavu was profitable, only during peak season.
This he said was between April to January, when business was at its climax.
The company, he said, signed a one year agreement with the Ministry of Works and Transport to service this route in Babaceva, Kadavu.
Moreover, he said, the company was on a franchise run to the Yasayasa Moala once a month before the expiry of its contract.
Mr Caginavanua said they withdrew from servicing the Yasayasa, because they found out it was a loss.
He added, they have given the tender for the new franchise, but that would depend on the Ministry of Works and Transport.
