Vilimoni Qio Sivaro and wife Litia Marama Sivaro came all the way from Kadavu to the capital city to do their kids back to school shopping.
The couple were among the many parents who were keen on getting the school shopping done on Saturday because only one week was left before the 2019 first school term begins.
They are from Rakiraki village in Yale. The couple bought stationery at the Pacific Book Shop on Renwick Road Suva.
They have three children, two of whom are attending school.
Mr Sivaro, who is a teacher at Yale District School said the cost of school stationeries and books had gone up over the years.
“Exercise books are becoming quite expensive,” the 36-year old said.
“The mathematics 200 page book used to cost around $2, now its price has gone up to $3 in some bookstores.”
He has advised parents to be smart consumers and shop around for better prices.
“It is so important to shop around before making the final purchases because even small savings here and there add up to a larger amount,” the school teacher said.
