After the termination of the search and rescue operation of the MV Liahona II, the deployed RFNS Kikau was diverted to Vunisea, Kadavu for an emergency evacuation.
On its Twitter handle, the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre confirmed that they were liaising with Doctors at Vunisea to retrieve an emergency case.
The RFNS Kikau was deployed to Kadavu on Friday April 19, 2019 after the MV Liahona II had taken in water. The vessel was successfully escorted into Kavala bay by the RFNS Kikau. All passengers are safe.

Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete replied on Twitter and thanked the FMSRCC coordinating team for their effort.
At around 10pm, the Medivac was successfully conducted with the patient under observation and the RFNS Kikau on its way to the capital.
