It was not an easy journey for 23-year old Sereana Nagatalevu making it in the final 26 Fijiana XV.
This was after she consistently tried to influence her mother to support her decision.
And the Rakiraki, Yale, Kadavu native is excited and is adamant of a positive outing in the one-off test against Papua New Guinea this Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
“At first I want to play at the beginning but my mum wouldn’t allow me,”Nagatalevu said.
“But I kept playing and I kept pushing and then she finally gave in.”
Her mother Ana Nagatalevu who hails from Ogea, Lau was reserved at first but changed her mind and accepted the fact of her daughter’s love for the sport.
“I wasn’t really ready to agree because rugby is too physical and she’s my baby,”she said.
“But my fear for rugby has changed now as I could see her love for rugby. I’m so excited for her and we fully support her.”
Sereana is the youngest of five siblings and believes there is more to learn in future from the coaching staff led by former national reps Seremaia Bai and Alifereti Doviverata.
