Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigations Department Superintendent of Police Mesake Waqa is yet to submit a report on damage to the Police station at Vunisea Government Station, Kadavu, during Tropical Cyclone Keni.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed that SP Waqa was on the island after the cyclone hit to carry out an assessment on the severity of damage to the police station.
It is also understood that crime dockets and more than five outboard engine boats confiscated from drug raids on Kadavu were also damaged during the cyclone.
The remains of these outboard engine boats were scattered in front just few metres away from the police station.
“At this moment we cannot make any comment on the issue because we are still awaiting report from Director CID. He is expected to submit a report on the situation soon after which we will be able to make a comment,” Acting Commissioner Tudravu said.
