A group of soldiers from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) who were deployed to do relief work in Kadavu have returned to Suva.

Twenty-one soldiers remain on the island to complete the distribution of food relief packs to villagers affected by Tropical Cyclone Keni.

Military chief staff officer co-ordination Captain Eroni Duaibe confirmed that those soldiers who had returned from Kadavu were back at work at the RFMF camp in Nabua.

The 21 soldiers who are still on the island will return to Suva after they complete the distribution of food relief packs.

Last Friday, Captain Duaibe said they had distributed 2600 relief packs.

Another group of soldiers are still in Lautoka and should complete their work by April 25.

Meanwhile, military engineers are still working on projects in Rotuma, Tailevu North and Vanua Levu.

In Tailevu North, engineers operations manager Major Sanaila Vitukalulu said they had three teams – one at Namalata Primary School, one at Tailevu North College and one at Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS).

At Namalata Primary School and Tailevu North College Major Vitukalulu said the soldiers were building quarters for teachers while the team at RKS was working on a laboratory.
